These three nice skeletons represent the famous Japanese proverb of the three wise monkeys: "see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil", which indicated how a person must always have positive thoughts, with good words and good actions to fulfill. Later, however, this representation also took on a new meaning: "I don't see, I don't hear, I don't speak" in the sense of not wanting to meddle in other people's affairs.
